Currently, I’m a 2nd-5th grade science teacher at Rowe Elementary School. Project YES! was a huge factor in getting me to where I am now. RES was still in the planning stages when I was a PY! member at Northwestern Settlement and happened to be based in an office down the hall. I absolutely loved my time serving at the settlement house and wanted to stay connected after my year was over. I thought moving to this new NUSH program would be a great way to stay in the family. I’ve had a variety of roles at Rowe since and am grateful to still be involved with NUSH. If I had to give advice to current PY! members, I’d recommend that you take advantage of any opportunities that arise at your site because you never know where life may lead you and what you may discover about yourself. My favorite memory of Project YES! happened during the holiday season- I volunteered to ride a donkey down Milwaukee Avenue as the Virgin Mary during caroling. It was just a very unique experience.
